Founded by Kate Regan in 2003, The Sitting Room is a design studio serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and beyond.
Our studio specializes in full service residential interior design for new builds and remodeling projects. With a glowing reputation among local builders, remodelers, and architects, the studio takes projects through every phase of design, from initial concepts and selections to project management and final installation.
Thoughtful reflections of our clients' lives and aesthetic preferences guide our design. Our portfolio is a compilation of a broad range of styles, however our projects all have a few things in common – a commitment to high quality materials and craftsmanship, an impeccable attention to detail, and a focus on functionality. Our personalized approach means we spend time getting to know who we're designing for, translating clients' desires and needs into warm and inviting interiors. Known for her classical design sensibilities, her ability to articulate an individual's distinctive style, her talent for creating unexpected, varied color palettes, and her inviting and fun-loving work ethic, Kate discovered her design niche within the iconic lake town of Excelsior, Minnesota.
As a wife and mother of twin daughters, Kate knows firsthand how important it is to marry form with function, designing spaces that are as easy to live in as they are beautiful to look at. Her work has been featured on HGTV as well as in many notable publications, both locally and nationally.
Since founding The Sitting Room in 2003, this designer and entrepreneur divides her time between leading the team, managing design projects, and acting as the boutique buyer. Her goal is to always provide a place of inspiration for the local community, inviting clients to linger, to learn, and to return for designer goods or services time and again.
